Parents come to the group with a wide range of issues. Many are feeling guilty, blamed by others, isolated, and at a loss as to what to do. Parents may describe their youth as defiant, anxious, depressed, angry, suicidal, abusive, unmotivated, or substant-dependent. In this group, caregivers learn effective strategies that can lead to improved relationships, decrease conflict in the home, and improve communication within their family. Parents also learn about adolescent development, the importance of self-care and that they are not alone in their parenting challenges. This is all provided in a confidential, non-judgmental environment.
Eligibility: Parents and Caregivers of teens ages 12-24. Participants must currently reside in Delta, Ladner, or Tsawwassen. Participants must have a confidential space to join the Zoom meetings via video.
Referral process: prospective parents, caregivers, and service providers can email tfindlay@bgcbc.ca to sign up.
